FRISCO - Philadelphia Eagles security staffer Dom DiSandro decided to play "bar bouncer'' against San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, escalating a heated on-field altercation this past Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in a manner than is essentially unprecedented in NFL history.

Dre Greenlaw of the 49ers was ejected by the officials; that's how the rules work, as he is also likely to be fined for his actions in his team's big win.

But what to do about "Big Dom,'' who is becoming a martyr in the "City of Brotherly Shove,'' starting right there at The Linc that night when fans cheered him and players and coaches from the Eagles hugged and slapped hands with him in the losers' tunnel?

The NFL has spoken ... while saying not enough.

On Wednesday, the NFL sent a memo to all 32 teams regarding the "conduct of club personnel on game day." The memo reads:

"Please ensure that all members of your game-day staff understand that their role does not extend to being involved with game day altercations and that they must refrain from such involvement."

Of course, that was already a rule. And DiSandro blatantly violated. The rule, though, as it existed previously, "prohibits'' random guys in team polo shirts - which is what a security guard amounts to relative to the action on the field - but doesn't specify punishment.

In this memo, however, words like "fines'' and "suspensions'' are mentioned. Great. But as of this writing, word is DiSandro has not heard from the league regarding potential discipline.

So ... is the league going to retroactively enforce the new punishment? And does the memo have enough teeth, for if the guy who is in charge of "security'' actually makes the situation less secure ... why should he be on the Dallas Cowboys sideline this Sunday when the Eagles come to town?

Why should "Big Dom the Bouncer'' ever be allowed to roam any sideline, ever again?
