'Next Level!' Cowboys Target Bobby Wagner Re-Signs with Seahawks
FRISCO - For two straight offseasons, the Dallas Cowboys - led by defensive coordinator Dan Quinn - flirted with the idea of courting Bobby Wagner.
But for the second straight offseason, Wagner - who last year signed with a Rams team that released him this spring - is going elsewhere.
And frankly, it feels right.
Nobody knows that better than Dallas defensive coordinator Quinn, who was Wagner's supervisor for their years together in Seattle.
But Wagner, about to turn 33, is a much better fit going back to his original Seahawks team - especially because Seattle is reportedly winning to give him a one-year deal that can make him up to $7 million.
As interested as Dallas might've been? Once the Cowboys signed Leighton Vander Esch, the pursuit of Wagner became a back-burner issue.
Last year, Wagner was one of the only stars who was healthy for LA all season long. He played in all 17 games, finishing with 140 total tackles, two interceptions, five passes defended and one blocked kick.
He also totaled six sacks after having just eight in the previous four seasons combined and was named the Rams’ MVP.
In Dallas, Vander Esch surely feels the Cowboys represent "home.'' After a decade in Seattle, that's the Wagner vibe there as well ... with a signing that feels right.
