'Not Just Dak Prescott! - Cowboys Are 'Cursed!' Claims Ex Eagles Star

'Not Just Dak Prescott! - Dallas Cowboys Are 'Cursed!' Claims Ex Philadelphia Eagles Star DeSean Jackson

FRISCO - As the Dallas Cowboys rolled into this year's NFL playoffs, the feeling in Cowboys Nation - whether playful or serious - was that Jimmy Johnson's induction into the team's Ring of Honor marked the lifting of "The Jimmy Curse'' - a goofy explanation for the team's 29-year Super Bowl drought under owner Jerry Jones.

Now, after three straight 12-5 seasons followed by three early playoff exits, talk of a "curse'' is back. And it's not about a Super Bowl - just about the supernatural.

"The Cowboys have a curse!" DeSean Jackson said in an appearance on Up & Adams. "The new-era Cowboys are not the '90s Cowboys anymore!''

Of course ... we already knew that, so Jackson, the former Eagles Pro Bowl receiver, isn't really advancing the ball with that take.

But Jackson does mention some recent history, including some unfortunate playoff outcomes from Tony Romo's time at quarterback. And he gets semi-serious when pondering whether these results are part of an issue that goes deeper than just the team's current struggles.

"They have a curse and something needs a dramatic change,'' Jackson said. "I don't even think it's just Dak (Prescott)."

Cowboys Break 'Jimmy Johnson Curse,' Irvin Insists, Predicts Win

Prescott of course experienced an MVP-level regular season before the 2023 Cowboys responded to the spotlight of the postseason by getting demolished, 48-32, in their playoff loss to the underdog Packers.

So the Cowboys postseason struggles continue, and it's no longer the fault of "The Jimmy Curse'' ... but something else. ... and maybe it's not as "supernatural'' as it is a simple fact about Dallas not being as perennially "super'' as everybody - including their own owner, coaches and players - think.
