'Open Your Eyes! Dak Prescott As NFL MVP, Says Dallas Cowboys' Micah Parsons

FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys "Lion-backer'' Micah Parsons has expressed in the past his own dream of a defensive player winning NFL MVP. But he's got a new campaign now, with his teammate Dak Prescott on a hot streak.

What about Dak being recognized as an MVP candidate?

"Open your eyes, people!'' Micah said this week on his "The Edge" podcast. "I think that Dak Prescott should be in the MVP conversation. If you're looking at numbers, what he's able to do, his efficiency, things like that, Dak Prescott is playing at an elite level.''

Dak's numbers are indeed on the rise. Among qualifying NFL quarterbacks, Prescott ranks seventh in passer rating (100.7), 10th in touchdown percentage (4.9) and 14th in interception percentage (1.9).

Dallas has a 5-3 record this season. ... and maybe Prescott is just now hitting his stride, as in the last three games his numbers really jump off the page: Prescott is over the course of that span 75 of 105 passing for 950 yards, with a TD:INT ration of 8 to 1 ... and with 17 carries for 69 and a TD.

"I think he needs to be talked about more,'' Micah said. "I think he will prove that through the end of this year, winning some big games and leading us to the playoffs."

Playoff wins, of course, have nothing to do with regular-season MVP voting. But if Dak continues on his present pace, and the Cowboys' record shows them to be "elite''?

Dak as an MVP candidate becomes an even more legit talking point.

As is it? Parsons now habitually uses his pulprit to "air grievances,'' often in defense of Prescott.

Cowboys MVP? Micah Parsons vs. Dak Prescott vs. CeeDee Lamb

"I don't condone the bashing of Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, and (I want critics to) have the same energy for the Eagles," Parsons said recently. "We want the same energy for everybody because there's a whole lot of bashing when it's Dak Prescott, but not the same when it's the Eagles.''

There is truth there. But bottom line: If the Cowboys want Dak Prescott to be in the MVP conversation, it'll take big numbers and big wins - at which point the voters' eyes will surely be "opened.''
