Patrick Mahomes Sr. Arrested by Dallas-Area Police For Third DWI Ahead of Chiefs' Super Bowl
FRISCO - As Super Bowl Week featuring Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes is about to launch, some troubling news for the Mahomes family, as the quarterback's father has once again been arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
This latest arrest occurred in Tyler, Texas, about 100 miles east of Dallas, as jail records from Smith County show that Mahomes, 53, was arrested on Saturday.
This reportedly is Mahomes Sr.'s third such arrest in recent years, and he has an unfortunate history of run-ins with the law when it comes intoxication-related offenses.
Mahomes Sr.’s bond has been set at $10,000 and he’s being held at the Smith County Jail.
The elder Mahomes was a Major League pitcher with ties to the area due in part to his stint with the Texas Rangers. Son Patrick grew up in Whitehouse, Texas, and played college football at Texas Tech before becoming a first-round pick of the Chiefs.

The younger Mahomes is a two-time NFL MVP and is about to start in his fifth Super Bowl in Las Vegas against the San Francisco 49ers.
CNN recently reported that Mahomes Sr. had planned to attend the game.
Mahomes Sr. has over the years dealt with charged of public intoxication, of driving without a license and of driving with an open container of alcohol, among other issues.
