'Shut The Hell Up, Prescott!' Stephen A. Smith Demands Dak Brother Leaves Dallas Cowboys Controversy: WATCH

FRISCO - It is not very often when we agree with Stephen A. Smith on his favorite subject, the Dallas Cowboys.

Our simply reasoning is two-fold: One, he's a self-admitted comic troll; he doesn't really dislike the Cowboys ... he simply sees profit in talking about them. And two, frankly, he barely knows whether a football is blown-up or stuffed.

But he has nailed down a problem with the Prescott Family Matters, and it really doesn't have as much to do with locker-room leader Dak as it does with his brother Tad, who has long utilized social media as a sort of "clubhouse lawyer.'' ... who isn't actually even in the clubhouse at all.

“Tad Prescott, the brother of Dak Prescott, shut the hell up,” Smith said on ESPN this week. “Enough of you. Shut the hell up! I’m sick of him and everybody should be sick of him!''

Our reason for agreeing with this, generally speaking: Dallas' infamous "Bro Bro Mama Drama'' that saw family members of Cowboys players CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons and Prescott take shots at the way "America's Team'' operates does a disservice to the very locker room the family members purport to support.

CeeDee, Micah and Dak are the ones in the arena, and when their family members gripe, it can cause personal problems inside that arena. Additionally, it can cause some (not only in the audience but also in that very locker room) to think that the family members are speaking for the players.

But Smith has a new twist, and it's a smart one ...

"I’m gonna tell you, Tad Prescott, why everybody should be sick of you and you should shut the hell up,'' Smith continued. "Because you’re implying that your brother had nothing to do with the troubles that the Dallas Cowboys have experienced.''

'A Liar and A Rapist': Prescott Accuser Speaks Out in '$100 Million Extortion Plot' Lawsuit

Tad does often do just that, with proclamations that include him expressing his desire - his desire, not Dak's - to leave Dallas. Most recently, and the source of Smith's ire, Tad took a shot at the Cowboys' inactive front office as NFL free agency opens in comparison to Philadelphia's blockbuster work in signing Saquon Barkley and Bryce Huff.

“So, if it wasn’t clear already, it is now. The @Eagles have the best front office in the NFL,” Tad said of the Cowboys’ rival. “#howboutthemcowboys.”

This sort of comment does Dak no favors. Indeed, on an extremely serious note: While Tad is goofing around with his brother's image on Twitter, his brother is embroiled in a $100 million "extortion plot'' lawsuit in which the quarterback is being accused of being a "liar and a rapist.''

Yes, maybe the "clubhouse lawyer who isn't in the clubhouse'' ought to sit this one out and leave it to the actual lawyers.

And on the "no favors'' front, short of that controversy? Smith illustrates a sharp view loudly on "First Take.''

“When you make a comment like that about the Philadelphia Eagles, knowing it’s going to be received publicly throughout the football world, what you’re basically saying is, ‘It’s not my brother’s fault,'' Smith bellowed. "Dammit, your brother has something to do with it!”

And the fact that Tad doesn't see that the finger-pointing can actually do damage to his brother's career? Yes, that's bothersome.

The fact that it takes Stephen A. Smith to be the one to speak out in support of the Dallas Cowboys as a whole? Yes, that's weirdly bothersome, too - but weirdly satisfying as well.
