Skip Bayless Offers 'Insight' Into Dallas Cowboys Locker Room, Rips 'Not Sexy Rexy' Mike Zimmer Hire

FRISCO - We have made the point here regarding the Dallas Cowboys' hiring of Mike Zimmer to replace Dan Quinn after their former defensive coordinator left to be the head coach of the Washington Commanders that Zimmer represents "safe'' and probably "smart'' in the role.

What we cannot detail is exactly how the locker room here inside The Star is going to react to Zimmer ... and the reason we cannot detail that is because we do not know.

So we leave that - sarcasm font here -  to a Cowboys "fan''/critic who is professing to be an expert on a locker room in which he's never stepped foot.

"He’s not exciting to me,'' said Skip Bayless on FS1 in reacting to the hire. "He’s not charismatic to me. He has no 'Sexy Rexy' in him. It’s meat and potatoes. It might be filet mignon and Yukon gold potatoes, but it’s meat and potatoes.''

Put aside Bayless' trademark cornball attempts at analogies. ("Yukon gold potatoes''?) Understand that the "sexy'' reference is to Rex Ryan, another finalist for the job. Even skip over concerns about whether Zimmer "excites'' the fan base (which will will reiterate to Cowboys Nation does not and should not have any bearing on who Dallas hires as assistant coaches) ...

Rex vs. Zimmer: Cowboys Controversy or Jerry Spin?

When Bayless said Zimmer's flaw is that he doesn't use emotion to motivate, that he doesn't fire up a locker room, from what experience in the locker room is the con man Bayless speaking?

"This locker room lacks a 'firestarter,' an emotional leadership personality,'' Bayless asserted. "(Head coach) Mike McCarthy is a bump on a log ... Dak (Prescott) doesn't have a leadership intangible in the locker room ...''

Bayless claims Zimmer lacks "emotion.'' He is painfully wrong.

Bayless claims Prescott lacks the "fire'' to lead. He is embarrassingly wrong.

Bayless claims the Dallas locker room lacks leadership and we will again counter with this fact: Skip Bayless has NEVER interviewed a Cowboys player in this locker room. Skip Bayless has NEVER stepped foot into the locker room at The Star. We're not even sure Skip Bayless have ever paid to take a tour of the Star in Frisco.

There are plenty of fair and reasonable criticisms of Jerry Jones, of Mike McCarthy, of Dak Prescott and now of Mike Zimmer.
