'Snakes!' T.O. Joins Dez, Rips Cowboys Romo, Witten & Garrett in Outburst
It has been over a decade since Terrell Owens was a Dallas Cowboy, but apparently his grudges last a bit longer than that.
The social media outburst all started in response to a clip from Dez Bryant on The Pivot podcast where the former Cowboys receiver saying that he believed Tony Romo and Jason Garrett were conspiring to keep the ball from him in a 2014 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
One viewer thought the comments sounded familiar, and he tagged Owens in a comment, saying, "Didn't @terrellowens say the same about these dudes?"
Owens' response? "I did! Romo, Witten and Garrett are snakes."
That seems a bit harsh for a wideout who tearfully defended Romo after a postseason loss to the New York Giants in 2008. It's not the first time Owens' name has been the subject of controversy in Dallas, however, as later that year, it was reported that he was "apparently jealous" of the relationship between Romo and his tight end Jason Witten.
That 2008 season was Owens' final one in Dallas, one where he accumulated 1,052 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, but after a 9-7 record and falling short of the playoffs, he was released during the offseason.
Owens also claimed that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones assured him that he would remain with the team prior to the move. Perhaps that is the source of some recently-expressed resentment from the former player and the prominent NFL face.
T.O. Rips Jerry, Calls for Sale of Dallas Cowboys?
"With the Cowboys, honestly, I kind of expected that and that's just me being honest," Owens said following the playoff blowout at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.
"I kind of take myself out of being a fan, I try and take myself out of the biases," Owens continued. "But that organization is just not really run well."
No biases? That's never been T.O.'s game, and it's especially not the case where the Cowboys are concerned, even 16 years after he played his last game in Dallas.
