Stefon Diggs Reportedly Wants To Join Dallas Cowboys; Bills Cut? Future Trade? How?

FRISCO - The Diggs Brothers have made no secret of wanting to play together on the same club - and from an "America's Team'' perspective, that club would be the Dallas Cowboys.

And now - as Stefon's Buffalo Bills are spinning downward and maybe out of the AFC playoff race - here comes the noise again, this time with a "source who spoke to NFL Analysis Network saying that Diggs is seeking a change of scenery.''

Whether this is truly "sourced'' or "speculative,'' the smoke is impossible to notice. Trevon, the Cowboys injured star cornerback, has talked and tweeted about this concept openly for a year ... to the point some NFL observers think the Cowboys should be wrist-slapped for tampering.

The latest scene in the Diggs soap opera: Monday night’s Bills' loss to the Denver Broncos, which drew instant social media reaction from Trevon, who called for his brother to find a way to escape Buffalo while also blaming Bills QB Josh Allen for the team's struggles.

These sort of reports - and there have been a lot of them - celebrate the attractiveness of the concept (again, from Dallas' perspective, not Buffalo's) while ignoring the obstacles.

"In an ideal world,'' the site writes per its source, "(Stefon's) his dream is to join his brother in Dallas.''

Even if the Cowboys favored the idea - and Stefon's dramatic and emotional history in Minnesota, where he whined his way away from to get to Buffalo, means the issue of locker-room chemistry should be assessed - the "how'' is problematic.

Stefon Diggs Trade? Bills QB Josh Allen Responds to Cowboys' Trevon 'Fire' Tweet

Stefon is a $28 million APY receiver, and Dallas is already earmarking big money for its own star wideout CeeDee Lamb. (Sidebar: How long would it take for Stefon in Dallas to become unhappy with being paid less or used less than Lamb?)

Would the Cowboys give up, say, a first-round pick plus in a trade?

And in addition to Dallas paying the dual price (trade and contract), there are Buffalo concerns, too, cap- and roster-related.

Of course, the Diggs Brothers don't need to care anything about that, and are therefore free to pout and tweet at will.
