'They Have To Stop CeeDee!' Dallas Cowboys Coach Reveals Lamb 'Different Intensity'
Since the San Francisco 49ers debacle, Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb has been a different beast. After venting his frustration at not being utilized after the loss at the 49ers, Lamb has seen his targets increase.
Head coach Mike McCarthy has clearly made a point to get Lamb the ball more and in the last three games, he has had no fewer than seven receptions in each. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has credited Lamb's form as being a product of a change in approach from the receiver.
“Since he came out with his frustration he's put the work in on the practice field,” Schottenhemier said. “He's just he's worked with a different intentionality, a different intensity and practice it's been awesome to see.
"Just every rep was like full speed the competitive drills were unbelievable ... It's a credit to him, the timing and stuff with Dak's been awesome."
Since that now-infamous Week 5 loss to the 49ers, Lamb has been perhaps on the best stretch of form in his career, and looking at the numbers only validates that thought.
In the last three games, Lamb has 30 receptions for 466 yards and two touchdowns as the connection between him and Dak Prescott has been borderline unstoppable.
Lamb's biggest gifts include is his ability to play multiple positions, as he's been used out wide, in the slot, and out of the backfield in what is an obvious plan to get him the ball in advantageous spot.
“I'm certainly aware that production makes people want to try to stop him, but they have to stop him," Schottenheimer said. "That just shows you that ... (an) elite player that's doubled isn't always taken away.”
If we average out Lamb's yardage for the rest of the season based on what he has done thus far, he's on track to have a 1,751-yard season. While keeping up with this type of production is nearly impossible, the Cowboys must ride this wave for as long as they can.
Cowboys 'Cut Dak Loose!' As Part of Plan
Up next is the New York Giants, and last time in a rain-soaked MetLife Stadium, Lamb had four catches for 77 yards. We imagine that in the fast track at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, with Prescott "cut loose,'' Lamb might just continue his rich vein of form with his changed mindset being key to another offensive explosion.
