Trevon Diggs Done ‘F***ing With’ Cowboys ‘Madden’ Rating

“(An) 87 overall, throw your whole game away I’m not (f***ing with) it lol.” - Cowboys star Trevon Diggs on ‘Madden.’

OXNARD, Calif. - At the risk of sounding like we are hopelessly fist-shaking-at-clouds out of touch with what’s cool, we still don’t understand why NFL players care how they are “rated” in the view of a video game manufacturer.

And maybe Trevon Diggs’ “LOL” reaction to this year’s “Madden” NFL ratings release should be the resounding takeaway.

But before we fully dismiss the take from the Dallas Cowboys cornerback, we should mention his trash-talking retort.

On Thursday, the ratings were released for the cornerbacks in the game. Miami Dolphins corner Jalen Ramsey, traded by the Rams this offseason - took the top spot among the 10 cited, having earned a 97 overall rating.

Nine corners received a rating of 90 overall or higher. Diggs is not one of them. And therefore …

“(An) 87 overall, throw your whole game away I’m not (f***ing with) it lol,” Diggs tweeted.

In a sense, it’s Diggs who is now “shaking his fist at clouds.” He is a premium player on a premium defense. He led the NFL in interceptions in 2021 with an eye-popping 11, and in two years has 14 picks and two Pro Bowl nods. The Cowboys think he’s stellar (and are working toward paying him that way) … and his Madden NFL rating puts him as the 12th best corner in the league. … which isn’t exactly trashing him.

In the end, the Cowboys know what he means to this Micah Parsons-led defense. And opposing QBs and offensive coordinators do as well. And isn’t that the “game” that actually matters?
