Trevon's Toe: Diggs Injury Update: Cowboys Star OUT How Long?

The Dallas Cowboys are insisting that the toe issue that has sidelined star cornerback Trevon Diggs for the last couple of days is about nothing more than "soreness,'' but ... there is an update.

OXNARD, Calif. - The Dallas Cowboys have been insisting that the toe issue that has sidelined star cornerback Trevon Diggs for the last couple of days is about nothing more than "soreness,'' and that him being on the sideline is simply precautionary.

But the team itself is actually now offering contradictory info … never a good thing.

Even if it’s “nothing’ OK, but that doesn't mean it's not a story. That is the nature of being one of the best ball-hawks in the NFL and a newly-minted $100 million (almost) man.

So … on Saturday, coach Mike McCarthy conceded that Diggs might remain sidelined until at least early next week.

But meanwhile … on Saturday, team owner Jerry Jones announced that Diggs might sit out until the team returns to DFW.

Dallas' secondary is dealing with a pair of injury issues that are more of an immediate concern that this one, as Donovan Wilson and Israel Mukuamu are both out for a time. Wilson has a calf strain that team sources told CowboysSI.com would likely mean him missing a month. Mukuamu  popped up with a hamstring problem. Head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed on Thursday that they would both be out multiple weeks.

All told? None of this seems like nothing. Trevon Diggs’ toe is more than “sore.” And that’s a story.
