'Wow!' Favre Scouts Jordan Love Ahead of Dak's Cowboys Playoff vs. Packers
Not even the most optimistic Green Bay Packers fan thought it would happen this fast, right?
The Pack's terrific QB tradition - from Bart Starr to Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers - is supposed to be hard to continue. (Not unlike Dallas' tradition with the foundation of Don Meredith, Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.)
But Jordan Love, in his first year as a starter after having caddied for Rodgers, is putting up numbers and accomplishing things not seen before in Green Bay. Love, who has led the Packers into the playoffs in his first full season as the team's starting quarterback - and who faces off Sunday at Dallas against Dak Prescott - with that achievement of a being a first-time starter making the playoffs trumping Favre and trumping Rodgers.
"All I can say is, 'Wow!" Favre said via TMZ Sports, who had previously been somewhat of a Love doubter. "Right now, he's playing as good as any quarterback in the league.''
The Packers' numbers say it is so. They finished the regular season with a 9-8 record and clinched a playoff berth with a 17-9 win over the Chicago Bears in their Week 18 finale, with Love leading the way. He completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns against 11 interceptions in 17 games, in addition to rushing for 247 yards and four scores.
'Just Being Real!’ Dak & Lamb Self-Scouting By Dallas
In other words, he did in some ways for Green Bay what Dak did for Dallas; indeed, Prescott's 36 TD passes led the NFL. But Love's 32 was second.
Back in the day, the Cowboys usually handled Favre's good Packers teams. More recently? Not so much against Rodgers' good Packers teams. And now? Favre has some advice for Love at Dallas.
"You can only play in your first playoff game one time," Favre said. "Enjoy the moment."
