'Zeke's Coming for Me!' Micah Parsons Previews Dallas Cowboys vs. Patriots Ezekiel Elliott Reunion
FRISCO - Micah Parsons and Ezekiel Elliott enjoyed their fun practice-field battles in Oxnard and here inside The Star during their two seasons together as Dallas Cowboys teammates.
But now comes a different sort of "enjoyment,'' with much more at stake, as the Cowboys will host the New England Patriots in Week 4 at AT&T Stadium. ... which means the return of running back Elliott, who is seeking some satisfaction by both meeting Dak Prescott and his other friends and by beating his friends.
“I feel like Zeke’s coming for me," said Parsons, the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September. "He used to tell me, ‘You’re lucky I’m not out there. I’d really get you.’
"If there’s ever a matchup, I’m gonna be looking forward to it, for sure.''
What Parsons means by that: Micah is a "Lion-backer,'' but most of his snaps are now coming as an edge rusher. That may or may not require him to tangle with Elliott, who is the backup runner in New England.
Maybe Zeke (cut this offseason by Dallas with Tony Pollard taking over) won't find himself trying to avoid a Micah tackle; that might be more a thing for top Pats runner Rhamondre Stevenson. More likely: Zeke in pass protection as Parsons attacks New England QB Mac Jones.
Whatever happens, Parsons predicts, the usually jovial Elliott - who before signing with the Pats spent seven years with the Cowboys, rushing for 8,384 yards and 68 touchdowns in 106 games while winning two NFL rushing titles - is going to have some laughs along the way.
"You know Zeke, everything is gonna be funny to him,'' Parsons said. "We miss his presence, the joy he brings to the locker room. It’s gonna be fun going against him.”
