Dallas Cowboys Weird Road Stat, Facing 'Panther Trap? FISH PODCAST
FRISCO - An examination of the Carolina Panthers, this week's Dallas Cowboys foe, coughs up some ugly numbers. The Panthers, for instance, are the third-worst team in the NFL in terms of scoring (17 points per), the fifth-worst team in the NFL in terms of sacks allowed and - in the category that matters most - are 1-8, the flat-out worst record in the NFL.
So why should the Cowboys be on alert for a "trap game'' in Carolina on Sunday? Even though here inside The Star all involved are swearing to a lesson having been learned in an early-season situation when Dallas visited lowly Arizona and got manhandled by the Cardinals, there is a cold, hard fact about this team when it goes on the road. ...
It gets "road hard.''
Notably, given the fact that Dallas has won 12 straight at home, the Cowboys are also a dismal 5-8 in their last 13 games away from AT&T Stadium. How can that - and this year's 1-3 road record - be?
It's largely due to the fact that two of those losses came at San Francisco and at Philadelphia ... the NFC's two greatest powerhouses.
Here, the Cowboys are 11-point favorites. As was the case last week as they crushed the New York Giants (as 17-point favorites in what would become a 49-17 win), that's the most bloated oddsmakers line of the weekend.
But again, what Dallas did last week came at home. What about this week in Charlotte? Our FISH PODCAST digs in to the psychology and the possibility of a "Panther Trap'' here, and you can listed to the show here ... or watch Fish's Video Visit below!
