Cowboys lose another defensive superstar to unexpected knee surgery

This season has been a struggle all year for the Dallas Cowboys who just lost another superstar defender to a knee injury.

Breaks haven't been easy to come by in 2024 for the Dallas Cowboys. They've lost several players for the season including starting quarterback Dak Prescott and stud right guard Zack Martin.

Now in recent weeks, they've started to lose star defensive players. First, it was DeMarvion Overshown, who suffered a severe knee injury in the Week 14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Sadly, he wasn't the only player to get hurt during that game.

Trevon Diggs, who has been battling nagging injuries all year, banged up his knee. He was optimistic he could play this weekend against the Carolina Panthers, but that won't be the case. Instead, Diggs has to have season-ending surgery.

The secondary has been hit hard throughout the year with DaRon Bland missing the first 10 games of the season. He returned while Diggs was injured and the two finally played at the same time in Week 14.

That's been a rare sight since Diggs and Bland only appeared in two games together last year. Diggs, who signed a lucrative contract extension that offseason, went down in practice with a torn ACL ahead of their Week 3 showdown with the Arizona Cardinals.
