Cowboys Downplay CeeDee Lamb Absence From Offseason Workouts
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is not participating in the franchise's offseason workout program as he awaits a reworked contract.
While Dallas' coaching staff would certainly prefer that Lamb attend the workouts, his absence isn't causing any concern at the moment.
"It doesn't matter right now," offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said on Tuesday. "CeeDee's a pro. He's going to know what to do. Again, I know Dak [Prescott] and the guys have some communication with him. We know he's taking care of business and when he gets back here, we'll certainly find ways to get him the ball."
Lamb is coming off his best season as a pro as he seeks a contract extension. In his fourth year with the Cowboys last season, Lamb caught 135 passes for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, all career highs. He averaged 102.9 yards receiving per game.
The timetable for an extension for Lamb is unclear, but the expectation is that he will be one of the highest-paid receivers -- if not the highest -- in the NFL when he gets his new deal.
