Before the Miami Dolphins took the field Thursday for their final practice of training camp, head coach Mike McDaniel spoke to reporters at the Baptist Health Training Complex.

Here were the highlights of that media session:

-- DT Zach Sieler went back and forth in team drills Wednesday, and McDaniel says it's. nothing serious. He will be day-to-day.

-- WR Tyreek Hill's absence from practice had to do with 'coach trying to protect player" and also because of what he did the previous. day. He's expected to practice Thursday, but might not go the whole way.

-- QB Mike White is still in the concussion protocol, but he won't play against Jacksonville even if he does clear all the protocol steps before the game.

-- Rookie free agent James Blackmon likely will get some snaps against Jacksonville. McDaniel praises his work ethic and preparation.

-- Mike McDaniel is asked about the reports of the Dolphins making a trade offer to acquire Jonathan Taylor and starts by kind of mocking the idea of reports, but never directly answers the question (as expected) other than to say nothing has come across his desk and his focus is on the players on the roster.

-- The orange jersey will be back at practice Thursday, and McDaniel points out it will be Raekwon Davis who will be wearing it. First time it's out until the first joint practice against Atlanta on Aug. 8.

-- In terms of the playing status of QB Tua Tagovailoa, McDaniel says his initial plan was to play Tua and the starters for more than a series but less than a half, but things could change after McDaniel talks to coaches after practice Thursday.

-- Jacksonville's plan to use its starters Saturday will have no impact on what the Dolphins do in the game.

-- McDaniel is asked about Ryan Clark's comments about Tua's offseason work and his body and doesn't directly address those, though he does point out that Tua did everything possible and more to get stronger in the offseason and achieved that goal.

-- Asked about how he went from a running game background to putting together an offense featuring Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, McDaniel talks about needing to adapt and the advantage of being versatile.
