Head coach Mike McDaniel spoke to reporters at the Baptist Health Training Complex on Friday.

Here were the highlights of that media session:

-- Jevon Holland remains in the concussion protocol.

-- As for starting cornerbacks, specifically Xavien Howard and Jalen Ramsey, McDaniel says he does not know who they are. Emphasizes that both players understand their importance to the team and the repercussions of coming back too early. McDaniel says he's prepared for either scenario with each player.

--  McDaniel says he was very happy with the performance of the secondary against the Eagles. "They didn't blink and gave us a chance to win that football game."

-- With Connor Williams' status, McDaniel says he's in the same category as Howard and Ramsey. McDaniel says his gut tells him he'll be active but he's not sure whether he'll start.

-- McDaniel says he does expect Tyreek Hill to play against the Patriots. McDaniel said the team's proactive approach to Hill's hip issue paid off and he had a great practice Thursday.

-- Rookie corner Cam Smith sustained a foot injury in practice Friday and McDaniel says that IR is "not completely off the table," though the Dolphins still want to gather more information.

-- Robert Jones is an "ascending" player and McDaniel says the team might try to find a way to get him on the field at some point. He could be in play at the left guard position.

-- Liam Eichenberg was tasked with working with Williams throughout the week and will be focused on that spot for the time being.

-- McDaniel confirms that the plan was for Jeff Wilson Jr. to get some touches last week, but the game flow thwarted those plans. Look for him to get some carries Sunday.

-- Brandon Jones continues to get more comfortable in the defensive scheme, which is a new one for him and one where he got a late start in being totally familiarized with because of his recovery from his 2022 ACL injury.

-- McDaniel calls New England a "very good tackling" defense and a team that's evolving on offense. Points out the Patriots are not a team the Dolphins are taking lightly.

-- FB Alec Ingold's work load has diminished in recent weeks, and that's a byproduct of the Dolphins not wanting to run him into the ground. He's also been dealing with a foot injury.
