Dolphins Lose WR Preston Williams for the Remainder of the Season
After the Miami Dolphins defeated the New York Jets 28-16 on Sunday. It should have been obvious, all good things must come to an end.
And whether you still have hope that the Dolphins can "Tank for Tua', there's far more important things to be concerned with.
One of those being, the health of star WR Preston Williams. Who as we learned a few moments ago, will miss the remainder of the 2019 season with a knee injury.
Williams, an undrafted free agent out of Colorado, has been one of Miami's top offensive playmakers this season. Through eight games, Williams has recorded 32 receptions for 428 yards and 3 touchdowns. The 6'5 playmaker had two touchdowns in yesterday's victory over the New York Jets and has looked dominant at times for Miami. Like Raekwon McMillan during his rookie season, Williams injury comes in a play that many believe could have been avoided.
After all, Williams sustained his knee injury on a punt return, something that could have been avoided if Miami would have used one of their other weapons as a return man. Although it is uncertain whether or not Williams will be ready for the 2020 season, the Dolphins are optimistic he will return in time for training camp.
Miami will now look for viable options to replace their star wide receiver. With the most notable option being to promote recently released wide receiver, Isaiah Ford from the team's practice squad. Regardless of who the Dolphins find to take some of the burden off of their current stable of WRs, the loss of Williams is huge for a team trending in the right direction.
Get well soon, Preston Williams.
