Achane Officially Back
As was trending all along, Miami Dolphins rookie sensation De’Von Achane indeed will make his return to the lineup against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
The team made it official Saturday when it activated Achane off injured reserve following his first week of practice after being designated to return, along with four other moves they made. Achane had been out since sustaining a knee injury toward the end of the Dolphins’ 31-16 victory against the New York Giants in Week 5.
Before getting injured, Achane rushed for 101 and 151 yards in games against the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants after gaining 203 yards in the Week 3 blowout of the Denver Broncos.
Before being placed on injured reserve, his 460 rushing yards ranked second in the NFL behind San Francisco 49ers' Christian McCaffrey, while his 12.1 yards per attempt leads the league among rushers with at least 10 carries.
Jeff Wilson Jr. and Salvon Ahmed are the two tailbacks behind Mostert and Achane on the depth chart, and both could receive elevated roles because of the injuries the top two backs are nursing.
CHOSEN BACK AND IN THE LINEUP AGAINST RAIDERS
Along with activating Achane, the Dolphins re-signed WR Robbie Chosen to the practice squad and elevated him for the game against the Raiders.
Also elevated was offensive lineman Chasen Hines, while running back Jake Funk was released from the practice squad to make room for Chosen.
The move to elevate Chosen was expected all along, as we indicated on the AllDolphins Podcast, because waiving him Thursday gave him the opportunity to play against the Raiders and the Dolphins typically make those moves on Saturday.
Chosen, who was waived to make room on the 53-man roster for Achane, likely was needed because of the uncertain status of wide receiver Braxton Berrios with Chase Claypool already out for the game after undergoing knee surgery during the bye week.
