NFL Draft: What is the best case scenario for Bo Nix?
The NFL Draft is coming fast and furious and the quarterback class is continuously at the forefront of the conversation. The biggest element surrounding the quarterback class will be how the top four come off the board. Once they do, the second tier of quarterbacks will come into factor.
The one player that has brought up a lot of discussion surrounding the first round is Oregon quarterback Bo Nix. The opinions aren't just varied on the five-year starter but they can get extreme as well. He is a relatively limited quarterback who struggles processing NFL-style reads and had a smoke-and-mirrors offense built specifically to hide his weaknesses
Even with those issues, his accuracy and tool set will be appealing to some coaches in the National Football League. That is an important distinction as he won't be a fit for every system. What are the best-case scenarios for Nix?
1. Denver Broncos
This is the fit that everyone in NFL media has seemed to link. Sean Payton isn't just an offensive guru who understands how to both call and design plays, but he also understands how to maximize a limited quarterback, as he did with Drew Brees for years with the New Orleans Saints. Nix would have that wealth of experience behind him along with some grace to develop with the Broncos in a period of transition.
2. Los Angeles Rams
Like the Broncos, the Rams are also a team in somewhat of a transition. They aren't as deep as the Broncos are, but Aaron Donald just retired and Matthew Stafford might not be with the team long-term being 36 years old. The offense that McVay runs relies on attacking the intermediate level of the field something that could lead to success early and often for Nix. Plus, Nix would have a really good interior of the offensive line to work with, which feels like a necessity for his success. Best part for Nix? He wouldn't have to start right away.
3. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders need a quarterback of the future and could end up striking out on not just the top four, but also Michael Penix Jr. They have some intriguing weapons to work with with Davante Adams and Michael Mayer. It wouldn't be the sexiest option in the world for the Raiders, but Nix is arguably a better option than both Aidan O'Connell and Jimmy Garoppolo.
