2019 #21 Green Bay Packers – Darnell Savage Jr, S, Maryland

OUTLOOK: Given the death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair and head coach DJ Durkin being placed on administrative leave, it was largely a year to forget for the Maryland Terrapins. One of the clear exceptions was the play of Savage, who capped his fourth season as a starter in 2018 by setting career-highs in interceptions (four) and tackles for loss (5.5) among his 52 overall takedowns. What Savage may lack in size, he makes up with raw athleticism, competitiveness and a flair for the dramatic. Savage is a fun prospect to evaluate because it is so easy to see what he does well (find and get to the ball) and where he could use some improvement (consistency as a tackler). The athletic traits are there to project Savage as a potential future starter in the NFL.
