2024 NFL Mock Draft: New 3-Round Projections at the Midseason Mark
There are two kinds of teams in the NFL: The ones that have a quarterback, and the ones that are desperately trying to find one.
If you happen to root for one of the clubs in the latter group, the 2024 NFL Draft might just be your chance.
This year's draft class appears to have some unprecedented depth at the top, and while it might not have enough elite talent to warrant a potential record-breaking group of first-rounders (the legendary 1983 group set the current mark with six in the first round), it could hit the double-digits in terms of early-round prospects with the traits and potential to be successful starters in the NFL.
It's also looking like a great year to need a wide receiver or an offensive tackle, but good luck if you need an off-ball linebacker or quality options at tight end after the first couple of names.
Keeping all that in mind, an early look at how the first three rounds of next year's draft could turn out, using the latest updated pick order following Week 9 results:
1. Arizona Cardinals
Marvin Harrison Jr. | WR | Ohio State
If the Cards are still picking here even after half a season of Kyler Murray back at full strength, nobody would blame them for taking a new quarterback here. But they could also opt to build around Murray (the more fiscally responsible option, considering his hefty contract), and give him the best player in the entire draft.
2. Chicago Bears (from CAR)
Drake Maye | QB | North Carolina
Maye vs. Caleb Williams is likely to be a debate that rages on all offseason long. While Williams might have a higher ceiling, it wouldn't be surprising if Maye is the first quarterback off the board, thanks to a more consistent level of play. If the Bears want to reset at quarterback (and move Justin Fields elsewhere), they can't go wrong with either one.
3. Chicago Bears
Olu Fashanu | OT | Penn State
If any quarterback is going to succeed in Chicago, the offensive line must improve in a big way. Braxton Jones has been solid (especially for a young fifth-round pick), but if the Bears have an opportunity to upgrade to a franchise left tackle like Fashanu, they should jump at the chance.
4. New York Giants
Caleb Williams | QB | USC
If either of the top two quarterbacks are still on the board when the Giants pick, it wouldn't be surprising if they moved on from Daniel Jones, regardless of the financial implications. If it's Williams, the Giants would be restarting under center with one of the most dynamic playmakers to come along at the position in recent memory.
5. New England Patriots
J.J. McCarthy | QB | Michigan
Mac Jones has had his moments of serviceable play, but the Pats need a difference-maker at the game's most important position. McCarthy is a well-rounded passer who is accurate and makes good decisions with the ball, and brings added value with his athleticism that Jones doesn't have.
6. Los Angeles Rams
Shedeur Sanders | QB | Colorado
I still think it's more likely that Sanders returns to Boulder next season, but if he does want to make the jump to the pros after this season, he's talented enough to warrant top-10 consideration. Considering Matthew Stafford's age and injury history, the Rams should jump at the chance to make Sanders the new face of their franchise.
7. Green Bay Packers
Joe Alt | OT | Notre Dame
This is the ideal scenario for the Packers, who need to find a successor for David Bakhtiari at left tackle. The son of a Pro Bowl tackle, Alt is a polished and pro-ready player who could plug into the starting lineup immediately and make sure the Green Bay offense doesn't miss a beat.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Brock Bowers | TE | Georgia
The Bucs will have plenty of big questions to answer in the offseason with their roster, so this pick could go in a million different directions. Quarterback is the big wild card, but with four off the board already, Tampa Bay might just stick to the "best player available" strategy in this scenario and grab a dynamic playmaker in Bowers.
9. Denver Broncos
Kool-Aid McKinstry | CB | Alabama
Pat Surtain II is already one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, but the Broncos could use an upgrade on the opposite side of the field. McKinstry has all the tools to be a shutdown corner in his own right, and brings added value as an explosive playmaker in the return game.
10. Tennessee Titans
JC Latham | OT | Alabama
This offensive line needs help across the board, so outside of 2023 first-round pick Peter Skoronski, every other starting spot could use an upgrade. Latham is a massive, powerful blocker with the athleticism and versatility to play either tackle spot, and the upside to be a dominant force in the trenches.
11. Atlanta Falcons
Laiatu Latu | EDGE | UCLA
Don't count out a quarterback here, but if there are already four of them off the board, the Falcons might wait to see who falls to Day 2. Instead, they get better value at another premium position, landing the best edge rusher in this year's class. Latu will have some injury concerns, but he's dominant at full strength.
12. Washington Commanders
Dallas Turner | EDGE | Alabama
The offensive line is the most pressing need (left tackle, in particular), but if the board falls this way, the Commanders would be better off reloading their defensive front. After trading away both Montez Sweat and Chase Young at the deadline, Washington would love to land an explosive pass rusher like Turner here.
13. Indianapolis Colts
Keon Coleman | WR | Florida State
Michael Pittman Jr. is in the final year of his contract, so the Colts could be in need of a new WR1 in the offseason. Coleman has the size, athleticism and physicality to be the perfect replacement, and would pair well with Josh Downs and Alec Pierce to give Anthony Richardson a young group of stud pass-catchers.
14. Las Vegas Raiders
Jer'Zhan Newton | DL | Illinois
The overhaul has already started for the Raiders, who have already fired their head coach and general manager. They'll need just about everything this offseason, so unless there's a quarterback they love here, it's all about value. Newton is the best interior defensive line prospect in this class, and would be a fantastic cornerstone upon which to rebuild this defense.
15. Arizona Cardinals (from HOU)
Nate Wiggins | CB | Clemson
After spending the No. 1 overall pick on a dynamic playmaker for the offense, the Cards spend this pick on a similar presence for the other side of the ball. Wiggins has been as impressive as any corner in the country this season, and brings the height and length to win against big, physical receivers at the line of scrimmage and the catch point.
16. New York Jets
Amarius Mims | OT | Georgia
Whenever Aaron Rodgers returns, the Jets will want to have better protection in front of him, so they can hopefully avoid another serious injury. Mims has missed time with an injury of his own this season, but at full strength, he's a dominant blocker who could upgrade either tackle spot in Florham Park.
17. Los Angeles Chargers
Cooper DeJean | DB | Iowa
The Chargers admitted defeat on the J.C. Jackson signing, and trading him back to the Patriots for peanuts tells you how bad things have gotten for this corner group. DeJean is one of the most versatile, athletic players in this entire draft, with the ability to line up anywhere in the secondary, as well as make big plays in the return game.
18. Buffalo Bills
Rome Odunze | WR | Washington
Safety or defensive line would also make sense here, but if the board falls this way, the Bills should leap at the chance to add a top-10 talent to their wide receiver group. Odunze is a complete player who checks all the boxes of an NFL WR1, which would make this passing game even more dangerous.
19. New Orleans Saints
Malik Nabers | WR | LSU
The offensive line needs help, and a quarterback upgrade shouldn't be out of the question here. That said, the Saints need a dynamic pass-catcher to pair with Chris Olave, and if Nabers is still on the board, his explosiveness and after-the-catch ability would be an ideal fit.
20. Minnesota Vikings
Chop Robinson | EDGE | Penn State
Another team that could be looking for a quarterback, but might not see one available worth taking here. Instead, the Vikings would be wise to follow the value and dip into a deep class of edge rushers, filling a huge need at another crucial position. Robinson is one of the most polished rushers in the group, with a wide range of pro-ready moves.
21. Dallas Cowboys
Taliese Fuaga | OT | Oregon State
I wouldn't count out a corner or a wide receiver here, but Dallas needs to address the offensive line before worrying about anything else. Tyler Smith can be the long-term solution at left tackle if Tyron Smith never returns to form, but on the right side, the Cowboys could use a massive mauler like Fuaga who would be an immediate upgrade.
22. Pittsburgh Steelers
Kalen King | CB | Penn State
The Steelers stole one talented corner from Penn State last year (Joey Porter Jr. at No. 32 overall), so why not grab his former teammate? King has all the traits of a shutdown corner, and would give Pittsburgh a talented young tandem for the foreseeable future. He'd also be the first Nittany Lion defensive back picked in the first round.
23. Houston Texans (from CLE)
Leonard Taylor III | DL | Miami (FL)
DeMeco Ryans' defense needs a few more pieces to truly be firing on all cylinders, and a disruptive presence along the interior of the trenches is one of them. Taylor is an explosive defender who lives in the opposing backfield, and would be a perfect fit for what Ryans needs at the position.
24. Cincinnati Bengals
Emeka Egbuka | WR | Ohio State
Free agency could decimate the Bengals' wide receiver room outside of Ja'Marr Chase, so it wouldn't be surprising if they target that group with their top pick. Egbuka has been banged up for much of this season, but when he's fully healthy, his complete skill set would be a fantastic fit as Joe Burrow's No. 2 option across from Chase.
25. Seattle Seahawks
Jared Verse | EDGE Florida State
After filling their need along the interior of the defensive line by trading for Leonard Williams at the deadline, the Seahawks can now use this pick to grab a difference-maker off the edge. Verse may not have the sack production many expected this year, but he's still getting consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks, and would be a fantastic value pick here.
26. San Francisco 49ers
Kamren Kinchens | S | Miami (FL)
If there's a right tackle the 49ers like, that would make sense here, but the opportunity to grab the top safety on the board is the ideal route in this scenario. Kinchens is a versatile playmaker who can line up all over the field and make an impact on every down, run or pass.
27. Miami Dolphins
Patrick Paul | OT | Houston
Terron Armstead has struggled to stay healthy, so the Dolphins could head into the offseason looking for a more reliable long-term solution at left tackle. Paul has a huge frame and massive wingspan, with the power and athleticism to quickly develop into a dominant presence at the next level.
28. Jacksonville Jaguars
Graham Barton | OL | Duke
There are multiple needs for the Jags to fill this offseason on both sides of the ball, but the top priority has to be protecting Trevor Lawrence. To that end, Barton is a pro-ready prospect who can play all five positions up front, and that combination of polish, experience and versatility makes him an ideal fit here.
29. Detroit Lions
JT Tuimoloau | EDGE | Ohio State
Aidan Hutchinson is already one of the best edge rushers in the NFL, but the Lions could be in the market for an upgraded running mate on the other side of the defensive front. Tuimoloau is a complete player who can set the edge against the run, push the pocket as a pass rusher, and get his hands on the ball when it's in the air.
30. Baltimore Ravens
Troy Fautanu | OL | Washington
Lamar Jackson is the engine that powers this offense, but that engine runs much more smoothly when there's a stout offensive line in front of him. The Ravens could use some added beef along the interior, and while Fautanu has been stellar at left tackle for the Huskies, he projects better as a dominant guard in the NFL.
31. Kansas City Chiefs
Brian Thomas Jr. | WR | LSU
Left tackle should be in the conversation here, but Patrick Mahomes also needs a true No. 1 receiver to help take some pressure off Travis Kelce in the passing game. One of the fastest-rising prospects in this class, Thomas has an impressive combination of size and athleticism, and all the traits to make a huge impact in this offense.
32. Philadelphia Eagles
Terrion Arnold | CB | Alabama
There aren't many glaring needs on this roster, but bolstering the young depth in their cornerback group should be a high priority. Another prospect moving up the board quickly thanks to a stellar 2023 campaign so far, Arnold has first-round potential after shining in Nick Saban's defense.

33. Arizona Cardinals
