2024 NFL Mock Draft: Bears Trade Justin Fields, Giants Replace Daniel Jones
The top of the 2024 NFL Draft class is led by some big names at quarterback, and where they land could have a domino effect on the position for other teams across the league heading into next season.
In the latest 2024 NFL mock draft from CBS Sports, the Chicago Bears spend the No. 1 pick on USC quarterback Caleb Williams, and in a corresponding move, send current starter Justin Fields to the Las Vegas Raiders for a pair of Day 2 draft picks.
The move would make sense for both parties, especially if the Bears overhaul their coaching staff in the offseason. Chicago's new decision-makers would get to hand-pick their own franchise quarterback while adding additional draft capital to keep rebuilding the roster, and the Raiders would get a high-upside quarterback with playmaking ability, something they don't have on the roster at the moment.
The Bears aren't the only team to move on from their current quarterback by drafting his replacement in this projection, as the New York Giants spend the No. 6 pick on LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, this year's Heisman Trophy winner.
Despite Daniels Jones' recent contract extension, his subpar play even before he suffered a torn ACL earlier this season could leave the Giants open to replacing him, should they get a chance to select a stud prospect like Daniels.
Only two other quarterbacks make the cut in this mock draft, as North Carolina's Drake Maye goes No. 2 to the New England Patriots, and Oregon's Bo Nix lands at No. 20 with the Minnesota Vikings.
