One Liner:

Antoine Green is a technically sound, fluid athlete that can give you a little bit of everything as a wide receiver.

Evaluation:

Watching Antoine Green play football, specifically the way that he runs routes, it is as if he is attacking his defender rather than going about his route without considering what the defense is doing. Green has a good release off the line of scrimmage and does not get held up too much when facing press coverage. He uses his hands well to reduce contact against the press and accelerate off the line. He analyzes coverages well and makes quick decisions on how to break down his defender throughout his route. He can read zone defenses and has a knack for finding spaces to make himself an easier target. When defenders are matched up on him, Green uses good footwork and change of speed to shake defenders off of him at the top of his routes. Green also has good timing on his back shoulder and fade routes. Good Quarterback chemistry is definitely a factor, but Green turns his head looking for the ball at the right time and does not let his hands out too early. He is very capable with the ball in his hands and a fluid athlete. His best trait might be his ability to change direction once he catches the ball and immediately looks for more yards to gain. Regardless of whether he is coming back to the ball or has an in/out breaking route, he does a great job of turning his hips once he gets the ball and finding open field. Green does not have game-breaking speed, but he has enough to force defenses to respect him as a deep threat. He lined up on the outside pretty much all throughout his senior year, but there is definitely untapped potential for Green in the slot, where he can really rack up yardage with his run-after-catch ability.

Green is a really solid wide receiver but does not have many strengths that really pop out besides his run-after-catch ability. He is above average in plenty of areas but struggles to stand out as more than a complimentary receiver. Something he really needs to work on is staying involved in plays that do not result in him getting the ball. Green will often stop giving effort when the play is not going toward him, especially on running plays. He needs to work on putting in more effort in these areas and becoming a better all-around facet to his team. There is potential for Green to expand his game if he uses his size (6’2” 200 lbs.) and athleticism to the best of his abilities, but it is likely that Green tops out as a practice squad or depth option at the next level due to his lack of astounding strengths.

Quotes:

"Tip of the cap to a guy who's been through a lot and has not quite had the career that he wanted to this point. But now, he's starting to show the kind of talent that he had. He's got another year here if he wants, so it'll be interesting to see what decision is made there.” - UNC beat writer Grant Hughes
