Four Iowa State freshmen suspended

"These suspensions are not related to any one incident but rather a pattern of conduct that will not be tolerated."

Iowa State suspended true freshmen Tayvonn Kyle, Jaeveyon Morton, Joseph Scates and Dallas Taylor-Cortez on Friday for "multiple incidents of poor choices and behavior."

The four players will not be allowed to use the football facilities or be involved with the team during the suspensions but will have access to academic support, coach Matt Campbell announced.

"I would emphasize that these suspensions are not related to any one incident but rather a pattern of conduct that will not be tolerated within our Iowa State football program," Campbell said in a statement.

None of the players are on the preseason depth chart. Kyle, of Valdosta, Ga., and Scates, of Dayton, Ohio, are wide receivers. Morton, of Detroit, and Taylor-Cortez, of Woodland Hills, Calif., are listed as defensive backs.

The length of the suspensions was not specified.

"We have worked diligently to develop a culture of accountability in our program and these young men have failed to live up to those expectations," Campbell said.

Iowa State opens at home on Sept. 1 against South Dakota State, which is ranked third in the preseason FCS poll.
