One-Liner:

Jake Andrews is a productive and versatile interior OL who uses his experience and intelligence to be an effective run blocker in zone and power - he would fit best in a multiple run and quick passing game offense

Evaluation:

Jake Andrews displays above-average body composition with good weight distribution. He is an experienced player playing in 37 consecutive games at Troy. In Andrew’s time at Troy, he played across all three interior positions and started at center in his senior season. His experience shows against all competition, reliably snapping the ball against multiple fronts. He plays with great effort giving everything he has until the whistle. Andrews is an above-average run blocker displaying good pad level generating power from his lower body upon contact. He is at his best when versing interior linemen from the side in power run and outside zone, giving him an opportunity to drive his legs and remove his opponent from the play. He is effectively climbing to the second level, sealing lanes for runners by taking good angles by knowing his limitations as an athlete. However, his constraints as an athlete and foot speed make him inconsistent at targeting moving defenders downfield. Due to being undersized and having below-average athleticism, he will get beat by interior defensive linemen with speed and a quick first step. Against the pass, Andrews displays average awareness and feel in pass pro, assisting blockers and picking up blitzes when he needs to. He is a quality double-teamer closing the gaps and playing hip-to-hip with guards beside him. Andrews struggles when defenders cross his face on stunts and use their athleticism to hit the open hole before he has an opportunity to get there.
