Bears Trade QB Justin Fields to Steelers for Conditional Draft Pick
The Chicago Bears are trading quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers, per multiple reports.
It's a conditional sixth-round draft pick in the 2025 NFL draft going back to Chicago in the deal, which can become a fourth-round pick based on certain conditions, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
In order for the pick to become a fourth-rounder, Fields would have to play at least 51 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps in 2024, per Schefter.
The Bears currently own the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and are fully expected to spend that selection on USC quarterback Caleb Williams. After finding a softer-than-expected market for Fields, Chicago finally sends him to Pittsburgh for a conditional Day 3 selection.
For the Steelers, Fields gives them a high-upside quarterback who will now compete with Russell Wilson for the starting job, after Pittsburgh traded recent first-round pick Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday.
