Justin McMillan transfers from LSU to Tulane
McMillan, who said he planned to leave LSU earlier this month, announced his decision Friday in a posting on Twitter.
“I’m thankful for everything,” wrote McMillan. “I will be finishing my career and starting the next chapter of my life at Tulane.”
McMillan will be eligible to play immediately for the Green Wave because he is a graduate transfer, according to the Times-Picayune of New Orleans, which cited a source in reporting that remaining in-state played a big part in picking Tulane.
“We had a good couple conversations on the phone talking about the offense and the direction Tulane is going,” McMillan said in a radio interview with ESPN’s Off The Bench, per the newspaper. “I like the direction Tulane is going, and I’m happy to be there with them.”
McMillan also has been assured he will be given the opportunity to compete for the starting job with incumbent Jonathan Banks, the Times-Picayune reported.
McMillan and fellow LSU quarterback Lowell Narcisse each announced they were transferring on Aug. 15. Their decisions came three months after Ohio State’s Joe Burrows transferred to LSU.
Banks started 11 games for the Green Wave in 2017, throwing for 1,797 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added 592 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.
