Matt Millen will continue to work in booth despite illness
Millen, 60, was diagnosed with amyloidosis, a rare condition that has caused serious damage to his heart, more than a year ago. He has already completed 38 rounds of chemotherapy.
Despite that, Millen said he will continue to work as an analyst with the Big Ten Network.
“While I’m still up on this side, I’ll enjoy everything,” he said vis The Mercury News.
Millen joined the Oakland Raiders preseason broadcast booth along with play-by-play announcer Beth Mowins and former quarterback Rich Gannon.

After the Raiders preseason, Millen intends on working college football games for Fox and the Big Ten Network.
Millen was the Detroit Lions’ general manager when the team went 0-16 in 2008. He was fired after that season. Millen starred at Penn State, before enjoying a 12-year NFL career as a linebacker with the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins. After his playing career, he spent several years as an NFL color analyst. He was general manager of the Lions from 2001-08.
