Missouri starting S Prewett dismissed from team

Kaleb Prewett dismissed for unspecified violation of team rules.

In January, Missouri starting safety Kaleb Prewett was suspended indefinitely, and Thursday head coach Barry Odom said at SEC Media Days that Prewett has been dismissed from the team.

The reason for the suspension and subsequent dismissal was an unspecified violation of team rules.

The exact date of the dismissal is unclear, but it is clear that his absence will be a blow to the Tigers’ defense.

Prewett had transferred to Missouri from Kansas State soon after he was arrested in February of 2016 for on an alcohol-related offense.

After sitting out the 2016 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, Prewett began 2017 as Missouri’s starting strongside linebacker before starting the last seven games at safety.

Prewett was fourth on the Tigers in tackles with 60 in 2017, when he also had four tackles for loss and two pass breakups.
