Evaluation:

Wore #9 at HUB Football ‘Futures CAMP’ on 12/15/21. A highly accomplished collegiate player, Williams is a noted team captain who leads by example with his toughness and ferocious demeanor. While his lateral movement was very good, his footwork and hips did lack some fluidity. Williams did an excellent job at jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage and knocking them off their route, in addition to showing soft hands for a defensive back. The Memphis native flashed effective slot coverage during one-on-one drills but was streaky throughout the day. Would have liked to see quicker reaction skills during positional drills but he did show sufficient recovery instincts. On film, he constantly shows up around the football and has a propensity for creating turnovers. With his size and instincts, Williams is a potential practice squad candidate who can be coached up.

Background:

Had a private workout with the New England Patriots, plus two XFL tryouts with Tampa Bay and Washington; participated at ANC Combine. Currently lives on military base in Norfolk, Virginia, where he works out four-to-eight times per week. Has placed an emphasis on his core strength, leg explosiveness, in addition to positional work, as he continues to stay prepared. Cousin, Auston Anderson, was a running back at Northwestern.

College:

Was elected team captain; an intelligent football player. Majored in quantitative economics. One of the best athletes on the team, strong against the run and the pass. Williams played in 50 games for Navy and won the Defender of the Nation Award. He was a three-time All-Conference selection and finished with 248 tackles, 16 passes defended, four interceptions, six forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
