2024 NFL Mock Draft: Record-Tying QB Class Dominates 1st-Round Forecast
Not since the legendary 1983 class have we seen six quarterbacks selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, but this year's group of top passers could give them a run for their money.
That talent and depth is reflected in the latest 2024 NFL mock draft from The 33rd Team, which has a record-tying six signal-callers coming off the board among the top 32 picks.
USC's Caleb Williams leads the pack (No. 1, Chicago Bears), followed by North Carolina's Drake Maye (No. 3, New England Patriots). LSU's Jayden Daniels (No. 6, New York Giants) also lands in the top 10, followed by Washington's Michael Penix Jr. (No. 11, Las Vegas Raiders), Michigan's J.J. McCarthy (No. 19, Atlanta Falcons), and Oregon's Bo Nix (No. 21, Minnesota Vikings).
It's hard to argue with any of those picks, as all six prospects have displayed first-round talent throughout the 2024 college football season. Daniels, Penix and Nix are in a three-way race for the Heisman Trophy, and while Williams and Maye may not have lived up to their lofty preseason expectations, their talent and potential should still see them come off the board in the top five. If Michigan can make a run at the national title game, McCarthy's draft stock could also continue to improve.
While six quarterbacks is a big number, it's still not the most plentiful position group in this mock draft, as eight offensive tackles are selected in the first round here. Penn State's Olu Fashanu (No. 4, Chicago Bears) and Notre Dame's Joe Alt (No. 8, New York Jets) headline a loaded class at a premium position.
