2024 NFL Mock Draft: 5 QBs in the Top 10?

Could the top of next year's draft be dominated by an early run on quarterbacks?
Jay Biggerstaff - USA TODAY Sports

We already know that the 2024 NFL Draft class has a pair of elite quarterback prospects in USC's Caleb Williams and North Carolina's Drake Maye, but what about the rest of the class?

There's no real consensus just yet on how the rest of the group stacks up, but if the latest 2024 NFL mock draft from YardBarker is any indication, we're in for a stellar crop of rookie signal-callers next year.

This projection has no surprises in the top five, including Williams going No. 1 overall (Arizona Cardinals) and Maye coming off the board at No. 4 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

Things do get wild starting at the No. 6 pick, where this mock has the third quarterback coming off the board, and it's Arkansas' K.J. Jefferson to the Washington Commanders. He's joined in the top 10 by Texas' Quinn Ewers (No. 7 overall, Atlanta Falcons) and Washington's Michael Penix Jr. (No. 10 overall, Los Angeles Rams).

It's rare that we see as many as five quarterbacks selected in the first round, let alone all in the top 10, so it would be a sizable shock if this scenario plays out come next April. Jefferson, Ewers and Penix certainly have the talent and upside to make such a huge move up the draft board, but expecting them all to go that high is a huge gamble at this point.

This mock wasn't even done with the first-round quarterbacks, either. Three more found their way into the top 32: South Carolina's Spencer Rattler (No. 13 overall, Las Vegas Raiders), Oregon's Bo Nix (No. 16 overall, Minnesota Vikings), and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders (No. 19 overall, Denver Broncos).

Eight first-round quarterbacks, five of them in the top 10, would be absolutely unheard of and feels completely unlikely at this point.
