Wide Receiver Quentin Johnston ran a sub-4.50 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, posting an official time of 4.49, with some scouts timing him as fast as 4.46.

This was Johnston’s first time running the 40-yard, as the 6’3” 208 lbs receiver decided not to run the event at the NFL Combine, where he put up a 99th percentile result in the broad jump and a 95th percentile result in the vertical jump.

Johnson is one of the most volatile prospects in this class, serving as the outlier big-bodied receiver out of an otherwise unusually small receiver group.

While his combination of size and athleticism is undoubtedly tantalizing, there are questions about his ability to use that size when he needs to be physical, and nfl.com gave him just the 11th-best college production score out of receivers in this class.

Johnston is in the process of meeting with different teams with picks ranging as high as the Cardinals at three and as low as the Chiefs, who have the last pick of the first round.

While Johnston will likely not go in the top five, the volatility surrounding his exact ranking could make it difficult for teams to figure out exactly where they may need to trade up or down in order to select him.

Johnston’s visit with the Ravens will be his second with the team, and he is also expected to meet with the Patriots.

Johnston’s ceiling could be particularly intriguing for those two teams as they have both sorely lacked elite wide receiver production over the past few seasons.

And as long as Johnston continues to impress athletically, he will remain on the radar of teams across the league.
