Rachaad White
Arizona State Sun Devils
One-Liners
Decisive running back that will make defenders miss while maintaining impressive balance with adequate vision but lacks desired acceleration when having to change directions.
Pros:
Lead back that possesses respectable speed and a solid athletic build as a playmaker. White has a number of moves under his belt and has good timing when using them as well as knowing when to get north and south. He doesn't hesitate or waste space and is decisive as a runner. With his decisiveness comes a level of aggressiveness that makes him hard to take down on first contact. He's never an easy tackle but not only because of the cuts he utilizes but his reliable contact balance as well. White is also a productive contributor in the passing game with somewhat reliable hands and his ability to force missed tackles in space. On the other side, White has grown in pass protection. He shows a willingness to learn, knows how to read pressures and where he should slide in protection.
Cons:
In his second year as a full starter (with the 2020 shortened season), Rachaad White has shown a lot of growth but still has his limitations. White has straight-line speed but takes some time to reach his second gear. Not as physically imposing as his frame indicates as he isn't much of a compact runner. In pass protection, Rachaad White's feet get a little stale and don't always keep up with him when he tries to engage as a blocker. His technique isn't always clean and is prone to lunging at defenders.
Summary:
The former junior college transfer for Arizona State has made a name for himself after developing into a multi-year starter. His ability to have an impact on all three downs and play with a multitude of play styles makes Rachaad White a focal point in both the pass and run game. White is a decisive runner who forces missed tackles and works well in space. Works best in a zone type scheme where he can make reads and cut depending on the flow of the play. Will need to spend some time refining as a blocker but shouldn't take long before he finds his way onto the field in some capacity in the NFL.
Background:
Rachaad White attended Center Sr. high school in Missouri where he had over 2,000 all-purpose yards and as a senior, was named a first-team Class 3A All-State selection. First-Team All-District and All-League. After high school, 247Sports ranked him as a 3-Star recruit, rated as the 56th-best JUCO recruit nationally, the 3rd-best JUCO RB, and the 13th-best JUCO recruit in Missouri. White spent the 2018-2019 season at Mt. San Antonio College where he recorded over 1,400 all-purpose yards as a sophomore.
In 2020, White transferred to Arizona State, appeared in four games and finished with 42 carries for 420 yards and five touchdowns. He added eight receptions for 151 yards and one touchdown. In 2021, White started 11 games and finished with 182 carries for 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns. He added 43 receptions for 456 yards and one touchdown.

Quote
"I feel like I get great feedback, I don't know, a lot of people say they love me and things like that. Which I'm grateful, very humble, a lot of people, teams love me, have good things to say about me. That's kind of what I pride myself on, just being grateful, being thankful for every opportunity that I have and have went through in life and things like that." - Rachaad White on his pre-draft process
2/5/22 - The National team mainly got the job done on the ground and White led the way with 11 carries for 57 yards (4.7 average). He converted a key fourth-and-2 and also ripped off the longest run of the day. He had also been a winner in practices, consistently showing vision to find the best lane and some physical toughness to gain yards after contact. White is proving to be a solid bet for teams looking for a multi-purpose back on Day 3.
11/14/21 - One of the best running backs in the country is Arizona State’s Rachaad White, who has put up great numbers week in and week out without much recognition. In the Sun Devils win over Washington, he was a true workhorse once again running the ball 32 times for 184 yards while also leading his team in receiving with five receptions for 53 yards. A rainy game demanded White to carry the offense which he was more than capable of. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, he can handle this kind of volume consistently, having surpassed 30 touches in the last two weeks. After the game White said: “I like playing in the rain. That’s probably the best win in my entire life, in all honesty.” Offensive coordinator Zak Hill added “That’s what makes him great, he wants to be out there, he doesn’t want to come out, he wants the ball and to give it to him more.”
