One-Liner:

An explosive thumper, bringing intent and passion to every tackle.

Evaluation:

Dense frame with good length. True old-school build. Aligned to the boundary, passing strength, and as the Mike. Sure tackler that can also play the pocket and force fumbles. Explodes with downhill burst, making open field tacklers on pass catchers and ball carriers. Good flow as a mover. He can withstand linemen that get to him laterally, staying square and scraping down the line of scrimmage. Closing speed is real as a Blitzer. Fires like a cannon when deployed as a spy. Struggles to see movement. Can be exploited in gap scheme runs, allowing pulling guards into his chest for big runs on counter plays. Incorrect when he freelances, missing his gap and losing integrity. Good in a straight line but struggles to change direction. He plays the role of spy or Blitzer when in coverage or sub personnel. He hasn’t displayed the ability to key and diagnose as a zone dropper, with some limitations as a coverage defender. Miller Jr is a sturdy, downhill thumper that plays with excellent explosion and burst around the ball. While his aggressiveness and brawn are appreciated, he can struggle to move in tight spaces and make questionable decisions when reading the run play. A suitable athlete, Miller Jr is a draftable prospect with upside.

Grade:
