Background:
Charlie Brewer comes from a family of talented quarterbacks. His grandfather, father, and uncle all played at the University of Texas, while his older brother played at Texas Tech. Brewer was a top 45 quarterback in the 2017 recruiting class after setting the national single season completion percentage record at 77.4% as a senior. As a freshman at Baylor, he was named Big 12 Co-Offensive Freshman of the Year by coaches and media after having the second best completion percentage all-time amongst Big 12 freshmen. As a sophomore, Brewer finished fifth in the conference in passing yards per game at 232.2, touchdowns at 19, and total passing yards at 3019. Brewer was a Davey O'Brien Award Semifinalist after his junior season, in which he totaled 251 completions on 389 attempts, 3505 total yards, 21 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and had a passer rating of 147.0. In 2020, he finished within the all-time top five in career passing yards, career total yards, passer efficiency, completions, pass attempts, completion percentage, touchdown passes, and touchdown to interception ratio at BU. Brewer transferred to Utah in 2021 as a graduate student but left the program after just three games in response to being benched. Upon his arrival at Liberty University, Brewer broke his hand in the first quarter of his first start with the Flames.
