Eagles Reportedly Met With Top-Rated Cornerback Ahead Of NFL Draft
The Philadelphia Eagles will have a tough decision to make very soon.
We are just over a week away from the 2024 National Football League Draft and Philadelphia has the No. 22 pick. The Eagles have eight total draft picks barring a trade and currently have one first-round pick, two second-round picks, one fourth-round pick, three fifth-round picks, and one sixth-round pick.
It's unclear exactly what the Eagles will do, but the team could use some help on defense. Philadelphia's offense should be one of the best in the NFL next season -- especially after adding running back Saquon Barkley -- but the defense could use a boost and that could come on draft day.
The Eagles reportedly even met with Pro Football Focus' No. 1-ranked cornerback Cooper DeJean, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Iowa CB Cooper DeJean, a likely first-rounder who impressed at his Pro Day, only had four days available for Top 30 visits due to Combine rechecks (fractured fibula) and his late Pro Day," Rapoport said. "He spent those days with: The (Pittsburgh Steelers), (Seattle Seahawks), (Buffalo Bills), and Eagles."
DeJean starred for Iowa and racked up seven interceptions, 13 passes defended, five sacks, and three touchdowns in three seasons with the Hawkeyes. He was an All-American with Iowa and could end up being the top cornerback from the 2024 draft class.
Philadelphia could use some help in the secondary and DeJean could be an intriguing pickup. The draft quickly is approaching so it won't be long until we find out if Philadelphia ends up landing him.
