Ex-Eagles Running Back Reportedly Could Sign With Seahawks After Recent Visit
It sounds like one former member of the Philadelphia Eagles could find his next opportunity shortly.
Former Eagles running back Rashaad Penny landed with the team ahead of the 2023 season in free agency but only appeared in three games. Philadelphia had a pretty robust running back room and Penny drew the short straw and didn't see much action.
He is just 28 years old and now is looking for his next opportunity in free agency and reportedly met recently with the Seattle Seahawks, according to CardsWire's Howard Balzer.
"(Cleveland Browns) reported a visit with (Tennessee Titans) (unrestricted free agent tight end) Trevon Wesco," Balzer said. "Seahawks reported visit with Eagles UFA RB Rashaad Penny."
Penny was selected by the Seahawks in the first round of the 2018 National Football League Draft. He spent the first five seasons of his career with Seattle and had his best season in 2021. He appeared in just 10 games in 2021 but racked up 749 rushing yards and six touchdowns while leading the league with 6.3 yards per attempt.
He has shown flashes, but injuries have significantly derailed his career. Penny has appeared in just eight games in total over the last two seasons and likely will have to settle for a short-term deal with whichever team he ends up with.
Penny still has some upside and it wouldn't be too surprising to see him reunite with his old team. Philadelphia still is loaded at running back so a reunion with Penny doesn't seem likely at this point. Hopefully, he will be able to find his next opportunity soon.
