Legendary Head Coach Reportedly Interested In Eagles If Job Opens Up
Will Nick Sirianni remain the head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles for the foreseeable future?
Questions already have popped up about his future with the team. Sirianni was named the Eagles' head coach in 2021 and he's had plenty of success ever since. He has an impressive 34-17 record in the regular season with the Eagles, but a 2-3 record in the postseason, including the Super Bowl LVII defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Philadelphia seemed to be the team to beat last season and was 10-1 to begin the year, but struggled down the stretch and lost in the Wild Card Round of the postseason against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Speculation began to build that Sirianni and the Eagles could part ways, but he currently still is the head coach. If Philadelphia can return to form in 2024 and make a deep postseason run, Sirianni's job likely will be safe. If the Eagles struggle out of the gate, things could change.
One coach who surprisingly is available and reportedly could be interested in the Eagles' head coach position if it were to open up is legendary head coach Bill Belichick, according to ESPN's Don Van Natta Jr., Seth Wickersham, and Jeremy Fowler.
"In the coming weeks, Belichick is expected to sign a deal to do analysis for Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions, which produces ESPN's 'ManningCast' during 'Monday Night Football.' Van Natta, Wickersham, and Fowler said. "He is believed to be biding his time until next January for openings on teams he has told confidants he would be interested in coaching: the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants."
Belichick and the New England Patriots parted ways at the end of the 2023 season but he was unable to land one of the open head coaching jobs. It sounds like he still is interested in continuing his career and Philadelphia could be an interesting landing spot.
