'Ban It!' Jason Kelce Challenges NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Philadelphia Eagles' 'Tush Push'
If we advance our thinking to the next level regarding the "Tush Push'' and its supposedly controversial nature, we suddenly completely understand why the "center'' of it all - Jason Kelce - is issuing a statement that represents a sort of self-confident "challenge'' to the NFL ...
And a sort of hint as exasperation over what the Philadelphia Eagles lineman obviously thinks is a tempest in a teapot.
"Ban it!" Kelce said via his "New Heights" podcast.
Wait. What? Why? Two reasons, as Kelce - busying himself with the important matter of helping the 10-2 Eagles prep for the "Sunday Night Football'' trip to Dallas to take on the 9-3 Cowboys - pretty much makes clear.
Reason No. 1: The aforementioned exasperation.
As Kelce said, "I really, at this point, don't care. I'm over the discussion."
It has grown tiresome and trite - and not just for the Eagles and their fans - to endure debates about "The Brotherly Shove." According to reports, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is leaning toward wishing to remove the "Tush Push" from the league.
At some point, Kelce is saying, the NFL should make its decision and move on.
And then there is Reason No. 2 for Kelce's position: The aforementioned "self-confident challenge.'' ... based in part on the fundamental belief that the "Tush Push'' featuring QB Jalen Hurts is simply a "quarterback sneak'' done right.
"We were really good at running quarterback sneaks before we did 'The Push,'' Kelce said. "I don't have the energy to care about whether it gets banned or not. We're going to run it right now because we're good at it and it's effective.
Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy OUT Due to Surgery
"Whatever they do next season, we'll figure out a way to do something at a high level and make it effective."
