'Brotherly Shove': Could Philadelphia Eagles Be Blocked in Trademark Move?
Indisputably, when it comes to the "Brotherly Shove'' on an NFL field, nobody can compete with the Philadelphia Eagles.
But in the business world? The Eagles, who block so well for quarterback Jalen Hurts when the call the virtually unstoppable short-yardage play, might find themselves as the ones who are blocked.
This week, the Philadelphia Business Journal reported that a handful of trademark applications have been filed on the phrase, likely all in relation to the Eagles' powerful rugby-like quarterback sneak.
The Eagles filed a trademark application on October 10, with the obvious wish to sell merchandise featuring the phrase. But under review by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. are two other applications, one from Inspired Synergy of New Jersey and one from Lawrence Caplan of Florida.
The government's decision, it is worth noting, doesn't have to favor "who thought of it first,'' or even "who is the most high-profile applicant.''

So in short, while we will surely see the "Brotherly Shove" on full display this Sunday in NFL Week 12 when the 9-1 Eagles play host to the AFC power Buffalo Bills, we don't know yet who owns the phrase.
We do know, though, that the less-cool "Push Tush'' phrase is probably still available. ... if anybody wants to put in a claim.
