'Eagles F***ed-Up'!' DeSean Jackson Rips Coach Chip Kelly for 'Dismantling'
This is not the first time DeSean Jackson has ripped Chip Kelly. And it won't be the last. But we will say this: Every time the fiery former Philadelphia Eagles star goes off on the goofy former head coach, it is bittersweet goodness.
"I don’t respect Chip Kelly,'' Jackson said this week, just getting started on his take of Kelly's time in Philly, during which he did put together two successful seasons starting in 2013 after taking over from Andy Reid ... before ultimately crashing as a head coach with the Eagles and then the 49ers, compiling a total NFL record of 28-35.
But for Jackson, it's not about the numbers. It's about the decisions - which included cutting Jackson after a standout year. In his only season with Kelly in charge, Jackson had 82 receptions for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns. ... but then cut by Kelly amid rumors of "gang connections'' and the like.
"What he did, you can ask any Eagles fan ever, They’ll tell you the same thing," Jackson said of Kelly, who now coaches at UCLA. "He dismantled our team. There’s no way you get rid of DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Mike Vick, Jeremy Maclin. We were Philadelphia."
Jackson has said he intentionally signed with Washington following the release so he could play against Kelly twice a year. In his five games against the Eagles following his release, he totaled 24 catches for 569 yards and three TDs ... oh, and a 5-1 record.
"It was a f--ked up situation for me," Jackson said a couple of years ago on the All The Smoke podcast. "I took that personal. That's why I did go to Washington, and every time I played the Eagles, I made them regret that decision.''
