DeVonta Smith flew to Arizona and Super Bowl LVII on Sunday looking to join some elite company.

The Eagles receiver will try to become just the fourth player in league history to win a national championship in college, the Heisman Trophy, and a Super Bowl.

The others to do it, per NFL Media, are Charles Woodson, Marcus Allen, and Tony Dorsett.

Smith is just 24.

If he is feeling fired up about potentially joining those three Pro Football Hall of Fame players, he isn’t showing it. Rarely does the former University of Alabama star get too high or too low, which already puts him in the company of his quarterback, Jalen Hurts.

“It’s just another game, honestly," he said the day before leaving for Phoenix. “It’s the biggest one because it’s the next one.”

In another attempt to elicit something more, something to reveal just how it really feels to be one of the last two teams standing at this point in the season, Smith remained low-key and focused.

“It’s just another game,” he insisted. “Go out there and do the things we’ve been doing the whole year.”

Smith won two national titles at Alabama, in 2017 and 2021. After winning his second, he was drafted months later by the Eagles after they traded up to the tenth selection to take him.

Asked if he feels any differences between playing for the championship of the NFL versus college, Smith said: “The only difference is, in college, I kind of knew I was going to be back next year. Here it’s different. You don’t get this opportunity that many times.”

Smith set the franchise record for yards receiving in a season as a rookie with 916 on 64 catches, adding five touchdowns. He broke the mark held by DeSean Jackson in 2008.

Smith followed up his rookie season with 1,196 yards on 95 catches with seven TDs.
