Eagles BREAKING: Kevin Byard, After Trade Failure, Cut to Open Philadelphia Cap Room

Philadelphia Eagles fans were excited by the prospects of the team’s 2023 in-season trade for Tennessee Titans safety Kevin Byard.

After all, he was a “name” player and a credentialed two-time All-Pro.

But as Philadelphia learned, Byard isn’t “that guy” any more … and on Friday the Eagles decided to cut the veteran.

What the Titans received in return - a backup player and two late-round draft picks - seemed fair at the time.

But now? Four months later? Byard’s underwhelming performance with the Eagles surely has some folks in Philly feeling buyer’s remorse.

The Eagles traded for the former All-Pro safety in October ... but somehow the results in the secondary actually declined.

GM Howie Roseman’s releasing of Byard frees Philly from some of his $14.4 million cap hit.

Byard’s final numbers were arguably the worst of his career. And now the Eagles are short of those fifth- and sixth-round picks that the Titans will now find useful.
