Jalen Hurts Shakes Off Illness, Leads Philadelphia Eagles to Halftime Lead vs. Seattle Seahawks
Despite all the uncertainty surrounding Jalen Hurts' availability prior to kickoff, the Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback led his team to a 10-3 lead headed into halftime of Monday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.
Hurts was questionable to play due to an illness that forced him to travel to Seattle separate from the team, but he finished the first half 9 of 17 passing for 79 yards while adding 10 carries for 36 more yards and a rushing touchdown, his 13th ground score of the season.
Hurts hardly looked sick on Philly's first possession, which was an impressive 15-play, 75-yard drive. He ran for 13 yards on the game's opening play before finding Dallas Godert for an 18-yard gain on a 3rd and 9 a few plays later. The Eagles then got going on the ground with D'Andre Swift and Kenneth Gainwell before Hurts finished off the drive with a three-yard rushing score.
The Eagles offense dominated possession for most of the first half before stalling a bit late. Philly had 18:56 of possession time while Seattle had 11:04.
UPDATE: New Details Emerge on Jalen Hurts' Illness
As a result, the Seahawks offense never got a real chance to get going until late in the second quarter. Drew Lock, who was making the start for Geno Smith despite the latter being active, went 10 of 14 passing for 64 yards. He led Seattle on scoring drive before the half that ended in a field goal after the Seahawks stalled in the red zone.
The Seahawks will receive the second-half kickoff.
