Nick Sirianni 'Sad' About 'Big Dom'; Will NFL Allow DiSandro on Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles Sideline?
While critics continue to pound away at "Big Dom'' DiSandro for his unprecedented decision to involve himself in in-game action in Sunday's Philadelphia Eagles 42-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni is using the word "sad'' to address the sideline scuffle controversy ...
But the Eagles still aren't exactly apologizing.
"I'm sad,'' Sirianni said, "that it came to what it came to, that anybody got thrown out of the game."
Indeed, 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected for body-slamming receiver DeVonta Smith, and after his heated exchange with a non-football personnel person in the form of Eagles head of security DiSandro. ... who himself was eventually ejected as well.
So the 49ers lost a player. And the Eagles - with all due respect to "Big Dom'' and his undoubtedly valuable talents - lost ... a guy in a polo shirt.
Of course, Philly didn't exactly "lose him.'' DiSandro was videoed after the game, simply waiting in the tunnel as he received handshakes and hugs from Eagles players and coaches as they entered the losing locker room.
"Dom is as good as they get in this business," Sirianni said, expressing his support for an employee who is now under NFL investigation for his behavior. "I'm so thankful for him. He is going to always try to defuse situations. That's what he does, that's his job.
"Obviously, unfortunate (Sunday), but I know in Dom's heart he truly was trying to defuse the situation right there.''

Logically, "Dom's heart'' is not in play here. Non-football people standing on the sideline in polo shirts are by rule prohibited from engaging in heated exchanges with football people ... just as a janitor, a beer vendor, or a passionate fan.
The Eagles are getting ready to keep their NFC East lead when playing the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football this week, and a sidebar to it all: Will the NFL allow "Big Dom'' to again be on the sideline?
