Philadelphia Eagles' A.J. Brown Fires Back at Donovan McNabb For Terrell Owens Comparison
Donovan McNabb is arguing that as a former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback when it comes to sideline disagreements between QBs and receivers, he's been there and done that.
And A.J. Brown is firing back at McNabb, insisting that this isn't that.
"Out all of people you should know better,'' countered Brown, explaining that his recent demonstrative sideline conversation with Philly QB Jalen Hurts was, "With all due respect .. not about targets. Two friends bumped heads about something and moved on.''
It was the assertion and the suggestion of McNabb, speaking in a recent interview with SportsRadio 94WIP, that Brown's behavior was reminiscent of the behavior of the infamous Terrell Owens, the former Eagles and Dallas Cowboys receiver, maybe the No. 1 wideout diva of all time.
Said McNabb: "I go back to before the complaint from A.J. Brown ... I've seen it before, I understand it, I know as a QB you don't want to be involved in it.''
McNabb, who helped the team to five NFC title game berths in the 2000s and therefore has certainly earned the right to his opinion, was in some ways insinuating that there exists a locker-room rift between Philadelphia players. And while he has the right to his opinion, he is being countered by Brown ... at a time when we find no real evidence of a serious conflict in the locker room of the 5-1 NFC East leaders.
Brown therefore makes a solid point when he said to McNabb on Twitter, "If you feel that way, keep that to yourself, because the media is going to hold on to everything you say.''
In other words: McNabb's words carry weight. And therefore McNabb's accusations need to be accurate. And he seems to be wrong about his "targets'' point ... and he seems to be hyperbolic when it comes to comparing almost any player's behavior to that of Terrell Owens.
